Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at the end of an advisory body’s active oversight of the NERC initiative to identify reliability requirements that are not essential for reliability and may be simplified or consolidated. They see FERC’s recent acceptance of 18 Phase 1 retirements – with 56 still pending – as a reasonable conclusion to the body’s original charter. The Phase 2 and CIP cyber security efficiency initiatives are to be integrated into other projects, NERC Rules, or guidance documents.
