Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at a preview of the third draft of MOD-026-2 recently presented at a webinar conducted by the project team. They are looking to greatly improve upon the 26.05% approval level achieved in Version 2 — even though most of the changes are organizational in nature and do not address stakeholder concerns that Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) modeling is still in its infancy and not ready to assure reliable BPS performance.
The third draft of MOD-026-2 is scheduled to be posted for a 45-day initial ballot and comment period in late May 2023. A despite the low approval figures, the project team still believes the standard will be ready for adoption by NERC’s Board in Q1 2024.
