Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines the Standards Authorization Request (SAR) for Project 2023-03, which launches an initiative to address FERC’s directive calling for the use of Internal Network Security Monitoring (INSM) systems to protect BES sites. The Commission sees INSM systems which analyze data traffic within critical networks as an effective means to stop cyber-attacks before they can gain a strong foothold at high and medium impact locations.
The initial draft of the Standards Authorization Request and supporting materials for Project 2023-03 – Internal Network Security Monitoring have been posted for a 30-day review. Comments are due back to the project team by May 5, 2023.
