Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at the early findings from an inquiry team investigating last February’s extreme ice storm affecting electricity service in ERCOT, MISO, and the SPP.  It was presented to the Commission on September 22 by the leaders of a joint team made up of almost 50 experts from FERC, NERC, the DOE, every Regional Entity, and NOAA.  Their draft report offers 28 recommendations to FERC, several of which will lead to new Reliability Requirements not addressed in the package recently approved by the Commission.

FERC Chairman Glick has made several strong statements on the need to take decisive action on the inquiry team’s findings.  One recommendation he should personally lead is to find ways to compensate GOs for their winterization infrastructure investments.
