Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines NERC’s Level 3 Alert issued on May 15 addressing the preparation and exchange of data to enhance readiness and planning for the upcoming winter and beyond. There are two parts to the Alert; (1) a list of Essential Actions that GOPs, BAs, and TOPs should take in preparation for this winter, (2) and responses to questions to the applicable entities.
The Essential Actions recommended in the NERC Alert are not subject to sanctions or penalties at this time. However, responses to the survey questions in the Alert are mandatory in the U.S. and due back to NERC on October 6, 2023.
