Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at the initial drafts of EOP-011-2, IRO-010-4, and TOP-003-5 addressing generator performance during extreme winter cold.  Despite fierce industry resistance to the SAR, the project team holds that the January 2018 extreme weather event in the south-central U.S. exposed a flaw in the voluntary approach and the reliability threat is too big to ignore.

The Draft 1 of the Cold Weather standards and their supporting materials have been posted on the NERC website for a 45-day review period and concurrent poll.  Comments must be returned and ballots submitted to the project team by March 12, 2021.
