Today’s LiveWire Spotlight is the third of four articles on the testimony provided at FERC’s July 31 Technical Conference. Panel III’s topic was “Managing the New Grid”. The panel members explored the measures that FERC, NERC, and industry should take to assure grid reliability as it becomes increasingly dependent on natural gas, solar, and wind power.
After assessing the Technical Conference Panel III discussion, FERC will decide their approach to managing the new grid. In the near term, the Commission seems to be very reluctant to call for new standards that may discourage innovation in this area.
