Today’s LiveWire Spotlight focuses in on the controversy swirling around the Standards Authorization Request (SAR) addressing the findings from the January 2018 extreme weather event in the south-central U.S. The objections emerged early in the process primarily from GO/GOPs in northern climates who routinely deal with cold weather and see the SAR as an administrative work driver for them.  Even less support was exhibited for the second draft of the SAR, which expanded the scope to all weather conditions (hot and cold).

The Standards Authorization Team for Project 2019-06: Cold Weather is still evaluating the comments returned to the draft 2 posting.  They will reach out to the Standards Committee for further direction if they cannot achieve a reasonable consensus on a third draft.
