Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines the field test launched under Project 2021-03 that looks reassess the viability CIP-002-6 Criterion 2.12 as it applies to small Transmission Owner Control Centers. The project team has developed a field test plan and questionnaire to address a concern raised by NERC’s Board of Trustees that recent cyber-events like the SolarWinds breach warrants added caution regarding any criteria that allowed more BES assets to be categorized as low impact; thus, subject to fewer CIP requirements.
The Transmission Owner Control Centers Field Test plan has been posted a 45-day review period. Clients who would like to participate should contact jordan.mallory@nerc.net for further detail – submissions to NERC Staff are due December 31, 2021.
