Today’s LiveWire Spotlight special supplement looks at the initial Standards Authorization Request (SAR) for Project 2020-02 proposing to modify the five “generator validation standards” to include all forms of transmission-side resources and DC systems that supply essential reliability services to the BPS. The applicability sections of these standards will be expanded to require the validation of dynamic models, Real/Reactive capabilities, and relay settings for synchronous condensers, SVCs, STATCOMs, and High Voltage DC (HVDC) transmission systems.
The initial draft of the Standards Authorization Request and supporting materials for Project 2020-02 – Transmission-connected Resources has been posted for a 30-day review. Comments are due back to the project team by April 29, 2020.
