Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at the third draft of the Standards Authorization Request (SAR) for Project 2019-06: Cold Weather. The SAR Drafting Team attempts to squelch the controversy which erupted while trying to address the recommendations from the joint NERC/FERC investigation into the 2018 extreme weather event in MISO-South. Another overwhelming rejection may set the stage for a confrontation with FERC, who has been pushing the issue behind the scenes.
The Draft 3 Cold Weather Standards Authorization Request and its supporting materials have been posted on the NERC website for a 30-day review period. Comments must be returned to the SAR drafting team by May 21, 2020.
