Today’s LiveWire Spotlight article looks at the Standards Efficiency Initiative Phase I recommendations. Several dozen reliability requirements have been identified by NERC as unproductive, burdensome, and/or overly complex and which can be retired from the standards framework. If approved by FERC, entire classes of requirements will be removed from the books that are commercial in nature, address data reporting, and support market concepts such as transmission system capability and capacity benefit margins.
The initial Standards Authorization Initiative Phase I recommendations and their supporting materials have been posted on the NERC website for a 45-day review period. Comments must be returned to the drafting team by April 12, 2019.
