Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines NERC’s recently released pandemic assessment, which reports on the industry’s handling of electric system reliability during the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 global health crises.  The ERO gives positive marks for performance in the early stages of the pandemic.  In fact, the top line finding is that no reliability issues have emerged even under severe social distancing restrictions.

The threat that the COVID-19 pandemic will debilitate the North American energy infrastructure weighs heavily on governmental policy makers.  For now, they are mostly satisfied that progress is being made, and no new legislation is required.
