Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at NERC’s evaluation of last year’s Bulk Power System performance, including its resilience, security, frequency response, and exposure to reliability threats.   The 2022 Report on the State of Reliability was authored by ERO staff – with support by the Performance Analysis team – using outage, Misoperations, and Event data from TADS, GADS, MIDAS, and TEAMS.  Their findings focus heavily on extreme weather – asserting that six 2021 events embody the most pressing BPS reliability threat facing regulators, policy makers, and industry leaders moving forward.

Note that the 2022 report’s focus on traditional BPS reliability indicators such as energy delivery, resource capacity, transmission miles, and Misoperations lessened considerably from that seen in previous years.  It is also telling that COVID-19 was barely mentioned.
