Today’s LiveWire Spotlight evaluates the latest annual analysis conducted by the ERO Enterprise of the use of Technical Feasibility Exceptions (TFEs) and their effect on BES reliability. The report is used by the Commission to better understand the extent to which TFEs are used, their justifications, and the steps taken to mitigate/eliminate them.
Due to the inconsequential impact of TFEs on BES cyber security, FERC is not expected to direct the replacement of deficient equipment with ERO-certified equivalents. This could change if the Commission finds that new equipment is being installed that require TFEs.
