Today’s LiveWire Spotlight assess three more NERC Lessons Learned – these addressing scenarios where human errors made during operations planning and design threatened electric system reliability.  The document authors urge entities to look for procedural and system-based solutions to prevent the introduction of service-threatening flaws into a grid or a communications network.

Human errors during operations planning and design continues to be a leading cause of BES service loss and one of NERC’s top reliability concerns.  Severe penalties may be levied if an outage occurs, and it is found that an Entity did not act upon these Lessons Learned.
