Today’s LiveWire Spotlight assesses FERC’s Notice of Inquiry (NOI) looking for a sense of the threat posed by telecommunications or video surveillance equipment supplied by companies identified by Congress as national security risks – Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, and Dahua are specifically named. The NOI consists of five questions (four with sub-parts) asking all interested parties to comment on the risk posed to BPS communications and physical security systems by these “Covered Companies”.
