Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at FERC’s public acceptance of NERC’s most recent five-year self-analysis of their performance as the Electric Reliability Organization (ERO). The Commission agrees that NERC continues to satisfy their statutory and regulatory requirements, particularly their ability to develop and enforce the Reliability Standards in a fair and impartial manner.
The many directives issued by FERC in response to NERC’s performance assessment may be a warning that changes are needed. Still, without unexpected signs of incompetence or bias, FERC’s endorsement assures NERC will be the ERO for at least five more years.
