Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines a deficiency notification issued by FERC to NERC questioning the lack of underlying support given to a proposed modification to their Rules of Procedure submitted last August.  The update would allow the Board of Trustees to decide the interval between ballot Segment criteria reviews instead of forcing a three-year time frame.  The Commission raises thirteen points of inquiry that explore (1) the need for more flexibility, (2) the effectiveness of the current review process, and (3) the mechanisms that would trigger a review under the new process.

NERC’s response to FERC’s deficiency notification justifying the updates to Section 300 was posted on their website on March 18.  No follow up statements or rulings have been issued regarding it or any of the other changes proposed in the original submission at this time.
