Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines FERC Docket RR21-10-000 which approves most of the updates submitted by NERC last September reflecting the latest System Operator Certification and Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Program (CMEP) business practices. However, the Commission chose to reject portions of the updates made to various CMEP sections that give Compliance Enforcement Authorities more discretion to manage self-logged violations and Compliance Exceptions – which they believe adversely affect the nature and extent of their oversight obligations.

NERC has been given 60 days to reinstate the original language in those Rules of Procedure Sections and Appendices identified by FERC in Docket RR21-10-000 Part V.  The updated documents must be submitted to the Commission by July 18, 2022.
