Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at FERC Order 873, which approves the retirement of 18 NERC requirements (out of 74 submitted) identified by the industry as redundant, administrative in nature, or providing little reliability benefit. This includes four entire standards which govern process that are already being dealt with by North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) or other authorities.
Those requirement retirements approved in FERC Order 873 which appear in an otherwise active standard will take effect on January 1, 2021. Those standards which are fully retired became inactive on the day of the Order (September 17, 2020).
