Today’s LiveWire Spotlight reviews FERC Order 676-J approving the latest Wholesale Electric Quadrant (WEQ) Business Practice Standards – of which several have been updated to transition ten entire INT and MOD standards addressing commercial processes to the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB).  This includes requirements dealing with Dynamic Transfers, Interchange initiation, and calculations for Available Transfer Capability, Transmission Reliability Margin, and Capacity Benefit Margin.

FERC Order 676-J approving Version 003.3 of the NAESB WEQ standards will take effect in the U.S. on August 2.  Public utilities must make an eTariff filing to comply with the Order twelve months after the standards have been implemented (on or around October 27, 2022).
