Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines looks at the second posting of CIP-012-1, the NERC standard intended to protect the confidentiality and integrity of BES data exchanged between Control Centers. The latest version addresses feedback that the end-to-end protection of a Carrier-owned link cannot be assured. Instead, the points at which data defenses exist must be identified.
The second draft of CIP-012-1 has been posted on the NERC website for a 45-day industry stakeholder review and concurrent ballot. Comments are due back to the project team and votes must be cast by December 11, 2017.
