Today’s LiveWire Spotlight deals with a draft NERC Reliability Guideline which compares and contrasts the prevailing methods used by BES planners to forecast the growth in distributed energy resource (DER) capacity. The Guideline provides examples of the various factors driving the forecasts supplied by states, Distribution Providers, Public Service Commissions, and aggregators; and describes how forecasts can be combined to best assure system upgrades will be made precisely where they are needed to support future growth.
The initial draft of NERC’s Reliability Guideline on DER Forecasting Studies for Modeling and BPS Planning has been posted for a 45-day stakeholder review. Comments must be returned to John.Skeath@nerc.net and Ryan.Quint@nerc.net by November 20, 2021.
