Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines the second NERC Alert issued on the topic of solar resources. It identifies settings-controlled operating characteristics of inverter-based generating resources that may drive adverse responses during disturbances – and explains the findings from last year’s Los Angeles Canyon 2 fire where solar photovoltaic (PV) resources were rendered unavailable, but their fossil-fueled counterparts were not.
The NERC Alert requires all Generator Owners with PV-based facilities to submit a completed Attachment 2 spreadsheet to NERC by July 31. A response to every applicable question in the attachment must be provided.
