Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines the disposition of Reliability Standards’ violations that were closed between January 1 and March 31, 2018. The assessment reveals a continued high priority focus on cyber-security compliance – 75% of all penalty dollars were assessed during the first quarter for those type of violations.
The data includes 14 FFTs and 147 CEs which address violations presenting only a moderate/minor threat to the BES. No cash penalties are assessed for those. However, NERC has clearly expanded its focus to generator validations and Protection System coordination – expect those violations to be treated more harshly if they continue.
