LiveWire Spotlight on NERC’s Hurricane Harvey Event Analysis Report
Today’s LiveWire Spotlight evaluates NERC’s Hurricane Harvey Event Analysis which summarizes the effectiveness of the preparation, response, and restoration efforts of the utilities impacted by the storm. The ERO reports that no load curtailments were required to maintain adequate BPS performance – and the affected utilities were all able to operate within thermal and voltage SOLs throughout the event.
The findings from Hurricane Harvey should not affect the standards governing extreme event planning. However, NERC may request entities to voluntarily add steps to their emergency plans to verify fuel, chemical, food, and medical supplies before a storm hits.
