Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at FERC Order 837, which announces the Commission’s approval of PRC-012-2 – a consolidation of five NERC standards governing Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) planning, performance, and maintenance into one. PRC-012-2 satisfies a FERC directive to transfer the Regional Entity’s responsibilities under the existing standards to other entities.
PRC-012-2 will take effect in the U.S. on 1/1/2021. By then, new RAS deployments and major modifications must be handled under the new process. The planning and operational assessments of existing RAS must be completed 5 to 12 years later.
