Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at the DOE’s series of daily status reports capturing the effectiveness of the local utilities’ response to Hurricane Harvey – one of the most destructive weather events in U.S. recorded history.  The reports describe how the preparations made by the government and by industry were able to minimize the impact.

The performance of the industry during Hurricane Harvey should reinforce NERC’s position that new standards are not needed regarding extreme event planning.  But FERC may take a different view once a full report on the incident is completed.
