Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines the action to adopt the CIP Supply Chain standards taken by NERC’s Board of Trustees (BOT) at their August 10 meeting in Ottawa. CIP-013-1, CIP-005-6, and CIP-010-3 address four FERC directives that will close the known reliability gaps associated with vendor software integrity, remote access, account safeguards, and procurement.
The final versions of the three CIP standards must be delivered to FERC and the Provincial Authorities by September 27, 2017. Once approved by the Commission, they will take effect in the U.S. 18 months later.
