Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines NERC’s latest evaluation of the performance of North America’s Bulk Power System intended to help set priorities for standards development, compliance, and enforcement.  The ERO concludes that 2016 was “adequate” with no large-scale events, but performance trends are mixed – providing “faint signals” of trouble ahead.

NERC has seen continuing improvement in reliability trends as attention shifts to the most prevailing threats.  This should lead to further reliance on risk-based compliance as their resources are pulled from the monitoring of low-risk activities.
