Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at the initial posting of a NERC Reliability Guideline outlining the basics of forced oscillations and how they can impact the Bulk Electric System.  The authors consider traditional stability analysis to be ineffective as forced oscillations occur outside of an electric system’s modeling parameters.

Draft 1 of NERC’s Reliability Guideline on Forced Oscillation Monitoring and Mitigation has been posted for a 45-day stakeholder review.  Comments must be returned to reliabilityguidelinecomments@nerc.net by July 7, 2017.
