Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines FERC Docket RD17-4-000, which announces the Commission’s approval of IRO-002-5 and TOP-001-4. It confirms that the NERC standards governing the collection and exchange of situational awareness data satisfy three FERC’s directives issued in Order 817.
IRO-002-5 will take effect in the U.S. on 10/1/2017. By that time, RCs must establish fully diverse data exchange capabilities. The corresponding requirements for BAs and TOPs engage when TOP-001-4 becomes mandatory nine months later.
