Today’s LiveWire Spotlight assesses NERC’s testimony delivered on February 1 to the Energy Subcommittee, the U.S. governmental body who oversees national energy policy – including the cyber security of the electric system. In it, they address Congress’ desire to understand how cyber security standards, defensive strategies, and information sharing practices protect against emerging threats.
Based on their consideration of the testimony presented at this hearing and others, the Energy Subcommittee may decide to introduce new cyber security legislation. Of course, a successful attack would drive action to be taken sooner than expected
