Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines FERC’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to modify the pro forma Large and Small Generator Interconnection Agreements (LGIA and SGIA) to require all newly deployed generators to provide frequency response into the electric system. The action would establish governor droop (5%) and deadband (±0.036 Hz) requirements for all sizes of synchronous generators as a pre-condition of interconnection.

The Commission has given industry stakeholders 60 days to respond to their Notice of Proposed Rulemaking regarding the provision and compensation of primary frequency response. Client have until January 24, 2017, to submit their comments.
