Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines FERC Order 822, which publically announces FERC’s approval of the seven Version 6 Cyber Security (CIP) standards. In addition, the Order directs the development of updates and/or new requirements beyond those approved – which are expected to close reliability gaps discovered during the review process.
The CIP Version 6 standards applicable to High-Impact and Medium-Impact BES Cyber Systems will take effect on July 1. This does not include the Low-Impact requirements found in CIP-003-6, which are scheduled to take effect on 4/1/2017.
