Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines the initial SAR for Project 2010-07.1, which proposes an update to FAC-003-3 that will expand the gap factors used to calculate the minimum distances allowed between transmission lines and vegetation. The initiative acts on a directive issued by FERC when FAC-003-2 was approved 2½ years ago – questioning the suitability of the equation used to establish the clearances.
The initial Standards Authorization Request for Project 2010-07.1 “Vegetation Management” has been posted on the NERC website for a 30 day review period. Comments must be returned to the project team by September 28, 2015.
