Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines PRC-027-1 Draft 6, which adds process detail regarding the coordinated deployment of new relay systems or changes to them. This is the first of two articles evaluating the standards that will replace PRC-001, the NERC standard governing Protection System coordination between operating entities. Next Tuesday’s article assesses the initial draft of TOP-009-1, which addresses System Operator awareness of protective schemes applied in their area.
The latest drafts of PRC-027-1 and its support documentation have been posted for a 45 day review period and ballot. Clients have until September 11, 2015 to return comments on the materials posted by the project team and to vote on the standards.
