Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at NERC’s Real-Time Tools Reliability Guideline – a strategy document looking to prepare RCs, BAs, and TOPs for a situation where critical Real-time tools are lost or degraded. This includes telemetry, state estimators, contingency analysis, Automatic Generation Control, or systems used to communicate reliability information between entities.

The initial draft of the NERC Reliability Guideline on the Loss of Real-Time Tools has been posted for a 45 day industry stakeholder review. Comments must be returned to reliabilityguidelinecomments@nerc.net by April 6, 2015.
