Today’s special edition of LiveWire Spotlight looks at FERC’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to approve the generator and transmission system relay loadability standards. Once in effect, PRC-025-1 and PRC-023-3 will push equipment thermal limits to assure that important Facilities remain connected to the Bulk Electric System during temporary sags in voltage.

Although the standards are technically complex and could require an extensive review of certain relay settings, FERC is prepared to expedite their approval – allowing only 30 days for public review. Clients have until April 28, 2014 to submit comments on the NOPR and PRC-023-3/PRC-025-1.
