Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at the initial posting of CIP-014-1; the NERC standard addressing physical attacks on transmission facilities that, if damaged or destroyed, could threaten wide-area electricity service. It consists of six major requirements, each with one or more sub-requirements, directing Transmission Owners and Operators to identify and eliminate potential vulnerabilities.

The initial draft of CIP-014-1 along with its supporting documentation have been posted for a 15 day review and consecutive ballot. Clients have until April 24, 2014 to provide comments back to the drafting team and vote on the standard.
