Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at the latest posting of VAR-002-3, the NERC standard governing how Generator Owners and Operators must support voltage at the point of interconnection with the transmission system. It consists of six requirements calling for adherence to the Transmission Operator’s specification of the generator voltage control mode, voltage/reactive schedules, status notification process, and transformer tap settings.

The third draft of VAR-002-3 and its supporting documentation have been posted for stakeholder review and concurrent ballot. Clients have until April 14, 2014 to return comments and vote on the postings.
