Today’s LiveWire Spotlight examines the ERO’s listing of ten top reliability risks facing the electricity industry over the next four years – and which will be used to drive new standards development over that period. They consider the most prevalent obstacles to near-term reliability are the evolving resource mix away from coal-fired generation to natural gas and renewables.

In their meeting on February 13, 2014, the RISC committee reviewed and adopted the top ten list. From this point on, they will begin to develop risk-based strategies to best address the gaps – e.g.; guidelines, training, NERC Alerts, and standards.
