Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at a presentation that NERC delivered during FERC’s mid-January Open Meeting concerning the performance of the Bulk Power System during the January 6-8 cold snap. Although just the first of series of storms related to the polar vortex, it is interesting to see how the electric system held up during that event.

NERC has indicated that is premature to assess the full extent of the early January winter event and those that have since followed. However, FERC expects to assess the need for further reliability standards once the events analysis is complete.
