The topic of today’s LiveWire Spotlight is FERC Docket RM13-16-000, which announces the Commission’s intent to accept five NERC standards governing the verification of generator capabilities, voltage/frequency control, and relay settings. FERC agrees almost entirely with the standards’ technical content – stating that the improvements will reduce generator trips and increase the accuracy of dynamic system simulations.

FERC’s proposal to accept the generator validation standards is posted for public review. Clients have until 11/24/13 to submit comments on the NOPR and the rulings concerning MOD-025-2, MOD-026-1, MOD-027-1, PRC-019-1, or PRC-024-1.
