It is the first of two stages of standards development intended to minimize the risk to the Bulk Electric System from rare, but intense solar weather. Stage 2 will address GMD vulnerability assessments and the actions taken to eliminate flaws.
Draft 1 of EOP-010-1 and its support documentation has been posted on the NERC web site for a 45 day review and concurrent ballot. Clients have until August 8, 2013 to return comments and cast their votes on the standard.
