Today’s LiveWire Spotlight looks at FERC’s recent conference concerning the interdependencies between the gas and electricity industries. The conference is one of several ordered by FERC Docket AD12-12-000 looking to eliminate barriers to inter-industry cooperation – particularly during an emergency.
Although not discussed at the conference, FERC intends to accelerate the delivery of Reliability Standards related to gas-electric interdependence. The pressure will mount as gas-fueled generators are widely deployed to replace coal units.
