The topic of today’s LiveWire Spotlight article is Project 2012-INT-05, which responds to a Request for Interpretation by Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OGE) concerning the identification of Critical Assets which are part of a wide-area load shedding program. In it, OGE voices a concern that auditors could consider a Smart Grid remote meter disconnect function to be a Critical Asset because it can be configured to shed an aggregate load greater than 300 MW.

The Request for Interpretation of CIP-002-3 and the initial response have been posted on the NERC website for industry stakeholder review. Clients have until July 27, 2012 to return comments to the project team.
