Today’s LiveWire Spotlight is on the workshop conducted by ERCOT in late February to share issues that BES owners and operators faced during a major reduction in water supply in 2011 – and the steps they took to address them. The stress on their equipment led to unique challenges as 85% of Texas was declared to be at an “exceptional” drought level.
In 2012, the ERO will continue to emphasize the sharing of best practices that greatly reduce the possibility of a wide-area loss of electric service. Weather conditions such as extreme cold and drought are a major part of this initiative.
