Today’s LiveWire Spotlight is on NERC’s proposed “Section 1600” data request to further analyze single point of failure scenarios. The effort was initiated in response to a Commission directive issued under Order 754, believing there is a potential BES risk posed by certain critical non-redundant relay systems. The survey will give Transmission Planners one year to respond to a detailed survey – with the help of the associated Generator Owners and Transmission Owners.
The proposed data request, reporting template, and support documents have been posted on the NERC website for industry stakeholder review. Clients have until February 6, 2012 to return comments to NERC.
